#73 Breakfast with Aga – travel plans for this year, how much my mastectomy cost and other…

What’s up with me

At the beginning of my life here I traveled around the States a lot but at some point everything slowed down. One of the reasons is that I saw the main places I wanted to see and I know that I’ll have time for the rest. Also, a lot of things started happening later on and then I had a baby and so everything got more complicated. A year ago we went to Hawaii where I always wanted to go and April was very little back then. I’ll definitely go back there but for now I’m planning to go to New York City for two or three days at the beginning of May (right before my second surgery!), later me and Nathan are going to Silver Falls for like four or five days for the same event as before (you can read about it in the post about Hawaii and in this one about us getting engaged). We’re thinking about staying in Portland for one day and stopping by Seattle too but we’ll see how much time we’ll have, how we’ll organize care for April and Alicia and so on. In October I’m planning to go to San Diego for a week for some workshop that I’ll tell you more about another time. So I have some cool plans now and I’m excited!

Before my mastectomy I was very curious about how much it’ll all cost. Not that long ago Nate logged in to our insurance company website to see if they have any claims yet and they had everything and it all was already explained. I thought I’ll tell you about it because it’s not a secret and some of you might be curious. By the way, yesterday I opened a letter from the insurance and which I forgot about because I left it in April’s stroller when we were going for a walk. They wrote that the mastectomy and reconstruction in my case were “medically necessary” and they’ll be covered in 100%. So if it comes to the whole thing, my surgery, meds including anesthesia, tools, doctors, biopsies, tests before the surgery and others that I might not remember about are $111.380 in total. Like I said already, the mastectomy and reconstruction were covered in 100% and we’re paying $7.000 only because this is our deductible for this year. So yeah, high numbers, huh?

April is 11 months old already! This time it wasn’t that easy to take a picture because she really can walk pretty well and she wants to show it all the time. So it’s very hard to catch her when she doesn’t move! That’s why this time I recorded a short video and just did a screen shot, she had my phone to stay busy somehow. It doesn’t really matter that much because it’s cool anyway and I want it to be natural instead of fake smiling and forcing her to stay in one place. In the favorite lullaby and favorite story sections I wrote something different because she doesn’t have her favorites.

Others from the past week…

April decided to clean our pantry.

“What?!”

One day we had +27 C (80 F) so I went to hang out at the lake. It was my first time there which is pretty strange because it’s very close. I liked this place!

April had it all and I poured the whole cup for her. I blended mango, apple, pineapple, spinach, chia and hemp seeds, coconut water.

And this is my raw home made hummus with cucumbers :).

Song of the week

A new video from Matt Pokora! I like this song and the video (yes, like most of his work) so I’m adding here so that you can take a look. They made this video in Miami Beach and honestly if I were in a better condition I’d probably go to chat with him or at least to watch lol

To watch

Yes, yes, I watched this movie too. I didn’t really like it much and I expected more so I personally don’t recommend going to the movie theater for it but when it’s online you can watch it for free ;). Let me tell you, I read the first part of it only because I was curious why everyone is so crazy about it but I barely finished it. It was very boring to me but it’s possible that I’ll try to read it in English because there might be some difference. Trailer below is in English with Polish subtitles.
