What I ate today: Monday

Imagine that I woke up at 6 am and was totally rested. It surprised me, I’m not gonna lie. I looked through the Internet, checked my notification and so on, then I got up and decided to go out when everyone was still asleep. When I got back they were still asleep ;). Even though it was very early I was happy to be up and around because I could be by myself, do some stuff and nobody disturbed me. I like it!

Also, I don’t really know how to take awesome food pictures so I’ll post regular simple ones.

Monday was pretty simple. I didn’t make anything more complicated because I didn’t feel like it so if you expected cool recipes you’ll be disappointed ;).

6:45 am

I didn’t really have food at home because yesterday nobody went shopping so I just grabbed two bananas and went to the gym, on the way back I stopped by a grocery store. A cashier asked me what we do with so much fruit and she got surprised when I explained it to her. She commented it saying: “great, I need to read about it!”

I bought a lot of strawberries so after I got home I ate a normal breakfast. They weren’t perfect but weren’t bad either, I’d give them 7.5 out of 10. Not they bring strawberries from Florida. I ate one kg.

I had a smoothie at noon! I had almost a liter, I think it was around 950 ml. I made it with 2.5 mangoes, 1.5 oranges, 3 apples, 1 medium banana, some lemon juice and spring water.

I took cherries from my fridge which I forgot about, fortunately they were still good. I had to go out then, I talked to Nathan a little too long so I didn’t really have time to think about how long I’ll be gone, what I need to take with me and so on. I ate some of the cherries and I put the rest to a plastic container and finished in my car. I ate half a kg.

It all took longer than I thought… I picked a wrong time to go out because people were leaving work and I was going to a different town so I got stuck in traffic! When I did what I had to do I stopped by Walmart and bought a few picture frames (I’m still working on the house!), a blanket and a few other things.

After I got back I ate the rest of the salad that I made yesterday but I didn’t take a picture because it didn’t look that good after the whole night in the fridge ;). It was made of tomatoes, spinach, dried cranberries and avocado.

Nate gave me some pineapple to try. You know, I don’t really like eating too much pineapple because my tongue hurts and that’s because it’s an acidic fruit and it has some enzyme that causes this. I read that if you cut off the middle part then you won’t have that problem but I never tried. Anyways, pineapple was never something I ate just like this. Every time I had it was on a pizza I ate.

Short after that I made a smoothie! I used one and a half cup of kale, half a cup of strawberries, two cups of blueberries and one and a half cups of unsweetened coconut water.

April liked it a lot too!

Comment of the day
It’s for this series only :). My goal is NOT to show anyone that they’re stupid or anything like this, I don’t think that. I don’t want to humiliate anyone. I just want to comment a few things and explain how I see things.

“(…) fiber is very important for our bodies, it accelerates intestinal track, food absorption and getting rid of the rest, mainly toxic and carcinogenic things so it greatly decrease the risk of getting a colon cancer, it prevents constipation and atherosclerosis and has a lot of different benefits too, and there’s not much of it in fruits, pretty much just trace amounts that won’t meet our bodies needs, if something then apples will have the highest amount of fiber (but not much) and you don’t eat apples.”

Of course I’m not going to argue about a positive effect of fiber on our bodies and I agree that it’s important but I’d like to talk about the rest of the comment. By the way, me and my sister got colon cancers while eating a totally different diet.

100 g of bananas (1 middle banana is around 118 g) has 2.6 g** of fiber, the same amount of dried figs have 2.9 g of fiber, the same amount of raspberries and avocado have 7 g and the best thing is that the whole avocado has around 14 g of fiber! I usually eat one avocado daily, sometimes two, so if I eat two I already have around 28 g of fiber and today – like you could see – I ate 67 g! And now, according to FDA, daily value for an adult who eats around 2000 kcal a day is around 25 g and I have 42 more than that today and I didn’t do it on purpose (also, I don’t know if the daily value set by FDA makes any sense but for this post let’s say it does). And then 500 g of apples, which means around 4 middle sized apples, have around 12 g of fiber so, as you can see, they’re not the best source.

Fruits not only have fiber but also are digested very fast and easily if they’re ripe. They don’t get stuck in intestines like meat, don’t produce any toxins and don’t have any carcinogenics. And believe me, if I had problems with my digestion I’d know about it ;).

See you later!
