#61 Breakfast with Aga – we have a new house!

In the past week

We finalized everything and the new house is ours! Since we started talking about selling this one a lot of time passed and I know that if we did things the right way from the beginning we’d have had this house sold a long time ago. But there was a lot of things happening on the way, as you know. Last week we met previous owners and a lawyer, everything was signed and we got keys to our new place. And the best thing now! This house we’re in now isn’t even cleaned up yet and we’re not packed in 100% so we didn’t list it or anything. How if we have such a mess everywhere. But one day our neighbor came here and turned out she’s a realtor. She talked to a different neighbor and she found out that we were about to sell the house. She told us that now she has a client who’s looking for a house in this area and he really wanted to be in this neighborhood so he was waiting for some house with a basement to become available. He wanted a basement very much and not all the houses have it. The next day she came here and called him and his wife on Skype (they live in California now) and showed them everything. And the next day Nate got a phone call that they want to buy the house and now almost everything is done! They said that they want to move in max Dec 19 and they even offered they’d pay more if we move out faster. It all went very fast and I’m really happy that these neighbors talked at that time because we all saved time, energy and money.

So now we’ve been putting some work in the new place but not too much. We completely repainted our master bedroom, we’ll also change girls’ rooms. We do it ourselves because we thought it’s not that much of a work for the two of us and today Alicia painted almost the whole wall in her room by herself so we had a group of three.

And oh, I changed the address in a lot of places already and in USCIS as well, in this case I had 10 days from the moment of moving out to change it. You know that if I didn’t inform them one of the consequences would be taking my green card away? I don’t want that!

.

Moreover, I was supposed to meet two people but I had so much stuff going on that… I forgot. I totally forgot! It happens very rarely and I couldn’t believe, I felt bad. And now I know that I need to work more on a time organization.

Several days ago when I went to Emory in Atlanta again to see a new doctor I was in a new office on a 17th… or 18th floor, I don’t remember. They had a really cool view out there so I took photos.

Song of the week

One of my favorite songs of Michael. Today it’s been stuck in my head, I walk and sing it all the time ;). Very, very good song!

To watch

On a Polish version of my blog I recommended this YouTube channel but it’s in Polish so not many of you will be able to watch it. That’s why here I’m adding a different one that’s very similar but owned by a completely different person. She talks about her lifestyle, kid, pregnancy, beauty and so on.

On the Internet

I know that some of you won’t like it but I really need to add this! Like they said: “brilliant video”. A great experiment that (I hope) will open some people’s eyes. If not, well that’s too bad, but I think there is someone who realized what’s happening after they saw this. And let me tell you, I felt a strange satisfaction seeing people’s reactions…

And I need to add here just in case – they had soy milk, not dog’s.

One of the posts I published a year ago (a year!! seriously?!) was one of my “au pair struggles” series. I talked in it about one question that’s very common all the time… If you’re in a process of looking for an agency go ahead and check it out!

Au Pair Struggles: what agency to choose?

.

Two years ago I wrote an important post for me because this is something I was fighting with and I had to learn. I know though that it’s something that will improve the quality of your relationship and will allow you live with no huge fights and throwing plates but with a normal talks instead… even when you’re mad. I highly recommend! It’s not about kids only, it’s about all the people in general.

I-statement – how to confront people with our problems which are caused by what they do or say?

..

That’s all for today. I’ll talk to you next time!
