#60 Breakfast with Aga – a quick trip to Poland

What’s up with me

I got back from Poland and I won’t talk about it too much because I know how it’ll end but I’ll tell you more some time soon. About the trip itself, it was pretty easy with April this time. For those who don’t know, when I went there in the summer with her she was 3,5 months and she was extremely fussy. Everything was fine at the airport but the plane ride was terrible. She cried, wriggled, screamed, she didn’t want to eat, slept a few minutes here and a few minutes there and in general we both were exhausted. This time though she slept the whole way to Poland waking up for a diaper change or some milk which was awesome because then we could sleep as well. If she wasn’t asleep she played by herself or with us, interacted with people, we walked back and forth. There were moments when she cried too but just a little bit.

This time we had to buy tickets at the last moment so we didn’t have much to chose from if it comes to prices, times or airlines. Some tickets were for $10,000 for one person and Nathan told me that he saw one flight for $26,000 for one person! Ridiculous! Fortunately we found something normal and for those who are curious we paid around $3,400 for all three of us for a round trip. For April we paid some taxes only and it was $150 because she didn’t have a seat, she was an infant in arms… or on the floor, especially while sleeping. I’m really happy that flights weren’t full because we had great seats and a lot of room so April was able to sleep normally. On the way there we used LOT (Polish airline) with a 1,5 hour layover in Chicago and on the way back the same thing but we had to wait 10 hours in Chicago so we slept in a hotel.

This is how she slept. I was envious.

Looking at this picture I begin to think that maybe the Earth isn’t round since there’s no curve at all when you look through the window on a plane ;).

Monika came to visit from Grudządz and it was awesome that we could meet!

This is how happy she was at 4am.

The only thing I didn’t like was the weather but I knew what to expect this time. Even then, Gosia told me that we were there at a great moment because there was no snow and no freezing temperatures. It rained the day we were leaving but generally I was very cold. I think that April was warm and cozy in her new clothes, she seemed to be pretty comfortable.

We couldn’t make it with no problems… On the way there we were almost late for our plane and I was so stressed! On the way back when we were driving to the airport I realized that… we left April’s milk bottles in the fridge! We had to turn around and go back which took some time and we checked in our bag 8 minutes before closing the gate. Man… Good thing there was no traffic on the way.

On a plane on the way back there was a girl more or less my age from Russia, she didn’t speak neither Polish nor English. She surely had some alcohol because you could smell it but honestly I’m almost certain that she was on drugs too because she was acting very weirdly. When she stood close to me once I felt uncomfortable… By the way, when we left the plane in Warsaw one officer stopped a woman who… wasn’t let into the States. They stopped her at the airport and she had to go back home on the next available flight. See, it still happens! I’m curious if they let that Russian girl in but I don’t think so.

I need to add here that I’m disappointed about a quality of flights with LOT. Unfortunately, I didn’t see such grumpy and unkind flight attendants in my life ever before.

Take a look at our grocery shopping! I thought I’d take a picture and save it to see how long we’ll have these foods and when we’ll go to a store again. I’m curious, so far I didn’t really pay attention to that. Some time ago one person told me that it’ll be cool if I add an update on my diet after a while on being on it and I think this is what I’ll do!

I haven’t mentioned one thing yet! A while ago I met Kasia from OdkrywającAmerykę. We both write from the same place, Atlanta, both about living in the States but each one in a little different way so you could say that we complement each other ;).
